UV-induced skin cancer is one of the most rapidly growing cancer types and civilisation diseases of our time. Therefore, research is being carried out around the world on innovative concepts in the field of skin protection against UV light from solar irradiation.<\/p>\n

An innovative concept of photoprotection is the external application of DNA repair enzymes. For this purpose special repair enzymes are integrated into liposomal formulations so that they can reach deeper skin layers.<\/p>\n

The study was carried out at the university clinic in Graz, Austria, with an active substance combination protected by patent law in Austria, Germany and Australia with two DNA repair enzymes, which are incorporated into sun creams and after-sun preparations. The combination of active ingredients not only partly reversed sun-induced skin changes (skin ageing\/photoaging), but also had a preventive effect with sun allergies. The standardised combination of two DNA repair enzymes (photolyase, UV endonuclease) with a plant extract from the Mexican nopal cactus known as so-called nopasomes\u00ae<\/sup> in 2% to 4% concentrations exclusively in sunscreen, aftersun and skin care products of ATEIA\u00ae<\/sup> products and have been marketed since 2005 in Austrian pharmacies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
